Bio

Beverly Karkruff teaches Jr. and Sr. High Independent Study and U.S. History for students with English as their second language.

Beverly was born in San Luis Obispo, CA. She received her BA in English and her Secondary Teaching Credential from CSU, Los Angeles. She taught High School English and English as a Second Language for many years at Rosemead High School, and various subjects at El Molino and Rancho Cotate High Schools. Beverly always leaned toward alternative education, and her perspective became more alternative after working at the Albion Whale School. She homeschooled her son through the 9th grade and adds that knowledge to her 10 years of independent study experience at Anderson Valley Jr./Sr. High. She also teaches ESL and Citizenship at Adult School in the evenings, and spends her weekends playing fiddle and violin. She strongly supports a love for learning in each of her students.
